Coquito's sits comfortably on the western shore of Oahu, serving up authentic Puerto Rican flavors with a laid-back island vibe that matches its Waianae neighborhood. As a full-service restaurant, it feels like a local gathering spot where the warmth of the staff mirrors the tropical surroundings. The atmosphere is relaxed but lively, grounded by the friendly chatter of regulars and visitors who’ve made the trek from Honolulu and beyond.

The menu shines brightest with classic Puerto Rican and Caribbean dishes that carry a home-cooked quality. Frequent patrons often lean toward the mofongo — particularly the versions with flank steak or chicken — which arrive hearty and well-seasoned, accompanied by double-fried tostones or sweet plantains that provide satisfying texture contrasts. The Cuban and Pernil sandwiches also draw diners seeking a handheld meal rich with layers of pork, swiss cheese, and pickled accents, ideal for a casual lunch or an early dinner.

The appetizers add variety and spice to the experience, with Caribbean jerk wings and Colombian empanadas standing out as flavorful starters. Seafood options like camarones al ajillo and seared scallops bring a coastal touch that’s fitting for Hawaii’s island setting, making dinner here a celebration of both Puerto Rican tradition and local freshness.

Service at Coquito's is notably personal and attentive, creating a welcoming environment where questions about the menu get detailed, patient responses. This makes it a comfortable spot for first-timers curious about Puerto Rican cuisine as well as returning diners who come back for consistency and connection.

For visitors and locals alike, Coquito’s works well for midweek dinners or leisurely weekend meals, especially when looking for something off the beaten path. Its location on Farrington Hwy means it attracts those interested in exploring West Oahu’s quieter corners, away from the busier tourist hubs. Whether you're a fan of plantains in all their forms or seeking a sandwich loaded with bold, savory flavors, Coquito’s offers a down-to-earth dining experience that feels like an island meal shared among friends.

I came here Thursday January 16, 2025 with my other half and we absolutely loved every thing about this restaurant, the server was so kind and very patient, she answered every question with detail and gave amazing suggestions. We started off with the Caribbean Jerk Wings - 1000/10 These wings were the best wings I’ve ever eaten, my mouth is just watering thinking about it. The chicken was nice and crispy, and tender and juicy on the inside covered in their homemade jerk sauce. The jerk sauce was the perfect amount of spice, and they definitely do not hold back on the sauce because every piece of chicken was smothered. Spicy, sweet and, flavorful. I got the Pernil plate 9.8/10 Kinda like Kalua pig, except I believe they throw it in a pan and pan fry it a little, which makes pieces of the pork nice and crispy. I absolutely loved the crunchy texture that it added. Yet the pork still had nice soft and juicy pieces like regular Kalua pig. It didn’t have that smoky flavor of a Kalua pig but the taste was very clean, a dash of salt and dipping it in their red sauce a beautiful flavor combination. Sides : gandule rice 9/10 Very flavorful but adding the jerk chicken sauce to it took it to another level. Plantain chips: 10/10 the perfect seasoning of salt and the crunch was unreal! My other half got the chuleton frito 10/10 Served with a side of their homemade Chimichurri sauce, the steak was cooked to perfection and definitely seasoned to perfection, I don’t know what they marinate the meat in but it’s by far one of the best meats I’ve tasted. Sides : Gandule rice 9/10 Potato salad 12/10 Not like most potato salads where there’s chucks of potatoes, but nice and creamy defensively melts in your mouth and hits all the taste buds, the seasoning on point and everything blended so good together, my boyfriend had the idea to dip it in the jerk sauce from the chicken and it took it to a out of this world flavor. Deserts: tres leche 10/10 the real deal tres leche, with every bite it took me back to my trip to Puerto Rico, perfect amount of cinnamon and the strawberry they serve with it not sour but sweet ! And so fresh. Every bite was delicious. Atmosphere: 10/10 great music and vibes. Soon as bad bunny came on my boyfriend started dancing. And he’s never one to step out his comfort zone. And the Puerto Rican flags and the decorations everything screamed authentic Puerto Rican. Definitely took you from one island to another

Small restaurant - big flavors! I absolutely loved the atmosphere. It feels like I was eating at my friend’s restaurant, it felt so welcoming. The food is incredible! We ordered almost everything from the menu just to try and we loved everything. The flavors are incredible and so delicious. Definitely worth driving a bit further out just to get this food. We definitely will be back for more. Oh and you can bring your own beer, that’s just awesome!

My hubby and I love this place. When we are craving Puerto Rican food and I do not feel like cooking, this is where we go. It is a drive from Mililani, but oh so worth the trip. Everything on the menu is delicious and as a picky puerto rican eater, I give them 5 stars! Today we ate the pernil plate with gandule rice (arroz con gandules) and sweet plantains, beef stew (carne guisada) with white rice and mixed salad with ranch dressing. The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere relaxing, the music is awesome, and the amount of food on the plates is just right! If you are new to the area and want to try some Latin cuisine, stop by, you will not be disappointed!
